Therapy
We are honored that you are interested in seeking our support to achieve your mental health and wellness goals for yourself and/or your child. We strive to have engaging and mindful relationships with each of our clients and families! Our primary area of focus is helping to strengthen relationships with those around you-as those relationships are the building blocks , for better or worse, of everyday life, whether it's with family, friends, co-workers, etc. Sometimes that includes problem-solving how to manage those more difficult relationships that can take a toll on our well being. In the therapeutic relationship, we each enjoy using connection, empathy, and humor while working toward your goals. At Mindful Moose Counseling, our therapists offer years of experience with varied specialties to meet your specific needs.
Child & Adolescent Therapy
If you're a parent looking for support for your child, we are happy to help! Our focus is on building strong relationships between parents and children through attachment and neuroscience (how the brain impacts development). One of our passions is supporting the whole family, especially parents. You are the most important people in your child's life and they make sense of the world through you. This means we focus on your whole family's experience, rather than "fixing behaviors." We have found that with a solid parent-child relationship, families enjoy being with each other more and feel more connected. Sometimes, it simply takes a few fresh ideas and a bit of time to see the progress you've been hoping for.
For younger children, we may recommend therapy as parent/caregiver sessions, rather than having the child directly involved. We have found that helping young children through their caregivers is often more effective than therapy directly with them, and are happy to discuss this with you.
We also enjoy working with teens! This age group can often see a notable benefit from having an outside trusted adult to talk through problems with. We are often able to work on challenging rigid thoughts and support teens in considering other perspectives to their problems. Often, therapy can be a great step for teens if it seems like a neutral adult (who isn't mom or dad!) could offer insight and support, in a confidential setting and the comfort of the teen's own environment.
Teleheath
We offer our services exclusively through a HIPAA compliant video platform called Therapy Portal where consent forms can be signed electronically. Some benefits of teletherapy include more flexible scheduling, ease of access to treatment, and added privacy. It's also important to keep in mind that therapy sessions are a small portion of time in your week, and most of the magic happens between sessions when applying the strategies learned in session!
